How to get started with Dots

Create your dot, connect one source, and complete your first useful task.

GPT Dot · Updated

1. Open Dots on desktop

Open https://chatgpt.com/dots in a desktop browser or find Dots in the ChatGPT desktop app. Sign in to the account with your eligible plan. Follow the introduction and choose a name and appearance. You can add app connections during setup or afterwards.

2. Connect one working source

Choose the source closest to your first task: Gmail for correspondence, Drive for a project folder, or GitHub for a repository. Confirm the account shown by the plugin. Ask your dot to identify one specific email, document, or issue so you know it can reach the right material.

3. Give it a small complete job

Provide the source, outcome, format, and deadline together. For example: “Read this project brief and produce a one-page decision memo with three options, their tradeoffs, and your recommended next step.” Tell it where you want the finished file.

4. Turn feedback into a routine

Review the output and name the exact change you want: shorter summaries, source links beside each claim, or a different order of priorities. Then add a schedule with a time zone and ask your dot to confirm it. After desktop setup, use the supported ChatGPT mobile app to continue the same conversation.
